Pahalgam Terror Attack: 26 Killed, Military Action
Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir | April 25, 2025 — At least 26 people were killed and several injured in this dastardly terrorist attack in the tourist town of Pahalgam, triggering public outrage across India, threatening war against Pakistan, and turning international focus toward the crisis in Kashmir and its effects on civilian life. This attack, claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), targeted two civilian vehicles carrying civilians and personnel.
The Indus Waters Treaty was suspended by India, while the Wagah-Attari border was shut down, and all Pakistani visas were cancelled. India has also ramped up retaliatory military actions along the Line of Control (LoC), with exchanges of fire reported from Indian and Pakistani positions along the LoC. Immediately, massive protests erupted in Delhi and other major cities. Protesters gathered outside the Pakistan High Commission, chanting anti-terror slogans. A trader's association has called for a bandh in Delhi to pay tribute to the victims.
Security has been stepped up in sensitive areas like Gurugram, where law enforcement is on standby to avoid communal tensions. Meanwhile, the BCCI has shelved its decisions on forthcoming matches against Pakistan, with senior officials calling for a boycott.
The Indian Army reported that two houses were destroyed that were associated with suspected members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba who were involved in the attack. Intelligence reports suggest that infiltration attempts are still ongoing along the LoC.
The attack has given a new fillip to international interest in Kashmir, with global media focusing on the century-old conflict and the humanitarian consequences arising from it.
