MDU to Conduct Workshop on Quantitative Data Analysis for Students and Scholars

Rohtak, April 21, 2025 — A two-day face-to-face workshop on Quantitative Techniques in Data Analysis will be held on April 25-26, 2025, at the Department of Economics, Maharshi Dayanand University, a state university having NAAC accreditation with an ‘A+’ grade. The workshop will be sponsored by the RK Foundation Fund and will benefit a heterogeneous group of learners ranging from undergraduate and postgraduate students to research scholars at no cost.

Before the Workshop

In the weeks preceding the workshop, registration via an online Google Form was opened by the department with the view of reaching students preparing to prepare project reports, dissertations, or internships in line with NEP 2020 guidelines. The objectives of the workshop were stated as an endeavour to improve familiarity with statistical and econometric tools through practical training with MS Excel and R software.

Workshop Highlights

The workshop will cover two full days and will include

• Data entry and compilation basics

• Measures of central tendency and dispersion

• Correlation and regression analysis

• Hypothesis testing and statistical significance

• Estimation of growth rates and matrix algebra

Another special module will be on designing questionnaires, a key skill for students collecting primary data for academic research.

Eminent Resource Persons

These sessions will be organised by renowned experts along with some experienced professors, who will lead the participants to understand theoretical concepts and applied practices. The face-to-face setup makes learning very engaging with active participation and interaction.

Participation and Certification

A participant must attend all the sessions to obtain a participation certificate for an exalted level of immersion and commitment from the students.
